How long should a CHristmas Tree Last inside?
We recommend waiting until Dec 10th to put your Christmas tree up in your house for it to last until Christmas time. Certain varieties of trees hold needles better than other (Scotch Pine, White Pine and Fraser fir trees have the best needle retention) and will hold their needles longer, but varieties such as spruce often only hold their needles for 2-3 weeks once put inside a warm house. Cutting a tree or picking up a tree before this date works just fine, just make sure to leave it outside (no water required!) and wait for around the 10th to put it up! The warmth of a home dries trees out rapidly so they do better in cooler places away from wood stoves or heat vents. It is also important to remember to make a fresh cut on the trunk of your tree before you put it up. Taking 1-2" off the trunk of the tree will allow the tree to drink water once it is in the stand.
Remember to keep plenty of water in your tree stand. If the stand dries up, the tree will seal itself on the bottom and stop drinking water. This will cause your tree to dry out more rapidly and lose its needles.

Which Trees Have the best needle retention?
Scotch pine, white pine, fraser fir and balsam fir all have good needle retention. Spruce trees tend to have poor needle retention. Check out our Types of Trees Page for more information!
What is your return/refund policy?
Due to the nature of Christmas trees being living things we do not offer refunds or returns on trees.
